More about Thompsons Cottage

This lovely little cottage is very family-friendly. It offers a peaceful stay in a pretty rural location, surrounding by miles and miles of paths and quiet lanes on the outskirts of Thetford Forest.

Step inside Thompson Cottage c.1850 and you will feel at home straight away in this rural abode, with period features and modern conveniences sitting comfortably alongside each other. It has a large dining kitchen with range cooker and separate sitting room with cosy wood burning stove, making Thompson's Cottage both welcoming and practical. Flexible sleeping is offered, with a king-size or twin bedroom (please specify on booking), as well as a pretty double room. Not forgetting the secret den and the enclosed garden - perfect for children and dogs. There is plenty of space for two cars to park on the driveway to the side of the garden.

With Thetford Forest, Peddars Way path and the Pingo trail all on your doorstep, the Brecks is one of the great little-known natural areas of Britain. One of sunniest and the largest lowland heathland areas in the UK, you can find stone age history, Saxon archaeology, abbeys and priories, a flint mine and wildlife not found anywhere else in the UK - ideal for exploring on foot and by bike.

The village pub, The Chequer's Inn, offers good home-cooked food and ales, so if you don’t want to cook, you don’t need to!
