Battery Cottage is built on the site of a 14th century fortification that still retains evidence of the dry moat. This delightful retreat for two, part of the owners home but totally separate, is set in an unrivalled position close to the mouth of the Yealm estuary. From Noss Mayo the cottage is reached along a mile long drive, half of which is unmade, through National Trust woods that border the estuary. The South-West Coastal Path passes in front of the cottage and there are some exceptional views of the sea from many points along the path. A fairly steep and narrow path leads down to a shingle cove, Cellars Beach, 300 metres away and ideal for swimming. Walkers will revel in this wonderful spot, or the romantic of heart can sip a glass of wine while watching the sun setting over the sea from the beach. The cottage, all on one level, is deceptively spacious and beautifully presented with lovely oak floors and attractive furnishings.. It is perfect for a couple or family with a young baby. The cottage is supplied with its own spring water which is UV treated. A welcome basket is provided for you on arrival. SHORT BREAKS may be available at this cottage during the low season.
