Domaine des Ormes, holiday lodges in Brittany - Dol de Bretagne

Domaine des Ormes has been transformed from a rundown château into one of France's finest campsites. It has been awarded Michelin 'five red tents' and is also a member of the 'Castels et Camping' group.

The old watermill is now the bar and the coach house and stables are now the golf club, while the par 72, 18 hole golf course winds its way through the woods and over the hill (handicap certificate required). The fabulous pool complex includes three pools and a superb waterpark with chutes beside the tree-lined fishing lake, and a new covered lagoon-style pool with wave pool. Our generous, grassy emplacements are scattered throughout the campsite and our Woodland Lodges are set in a secluded woodland setting - ideal if your looking for something a little different. There is something for everyone here; tennis, horse riding, bicycle hire, canoeing, pedalo hire and an extensive entertainment programme.

Holiday Accommodation

Travelling north from Rennes, take the N137 as far as Hede, where you should turn off and head towards Combourg on the D795.
Pass through Combourg, still following signs for Dol de Bretagne.
The campsite is about 10km (6mls) along this road, clearly signposted with flagpoles at the entrance.

 

 

Local Area

Set in the 600 acre grounds of a château, this wooded parkland site is only four miles from the medieval town of Dol-de-Bretagne. Here you will find some restaurants, bars and a few shops. The sandy beaches of St Malo are 15 miles away. The delightful seaside resort of Dinard is a little further and is well worth a day trip.

A popular day trip is a visit to the famous Mont Saint Michel (22mls). Linked by a causeway to the mainland, you can learn about the history of the island on a guided tour. Along the coast from St Malo, walk at low tide to explore the Ile du Grand Be.

Set away from the main campsite facilities, this inviting camping accommodation is spread over one floor and a mezzanine, and sleeps up to 7 people. The cottages are fully equipped with all the mod-cons, including a TV monitor & DVD player, and are fully heated throughout, especially ideal for early and late summer camping holidays. Outside, enjoy dining alfresco on the spacious terrace which surrounds the front of the cottage.
